COUNSELORS:
Desired Qualifications
-Minimum age 19 (unless completed our CIT2 Program)
-First Aid and CPR preferred
-Certification or sufficient experience and knowledge in an activity to safely teach campers
-Excellent role model for children: high moral standards, outstanding character and integrity
-Neat and professional appearance: no tattoos or body piercings
-Must agree to a criminal background check
Additional Qualifications
-Lifeguard certification required for water activities
-WSI required for swimming instructor
Experience
-Completed at least one year of college or work experience

General and specific responsibilities
-Teach designated activity to groups of campers
-Develop and carry out lesson plans for different age groups and skill levels
-Instruct campers in emergency procedures
-Maintain equipment in good working order
-Be responsible for a cabin of campers and supervise them during wake-up, cabin clean-up, mealtimes, rest hour and bedtime
-Provide a safe environment for campers and self
-Lead small and large group activities
-Supervise campers’ participation in structured and unstructured activities
-Nurture each camper’s development of social skills and self-esteem
-Demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of campers
-Interact appropriately with campers in a variety of situations
-Appropriately model behavior and use positive behavior management techniques: enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience and self-control
-Carry out other duties as designated
Essential Functions
-Must possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers
-Be able to observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior management techniques as trained by camp
-Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to camp activity
-Able to assist campers in a case of emergency
